Premium gas was sold at the lowest price of $4.97 per gallon at one gas station in Wood County during the week ending May 30, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
Reported prices for premium gas in Wood County averaged $5.43 per gallon.
Wood County had 35 of 48 reported gas stations offering premium gas.
Across West Virginia, the average reported price for a gallon of premium gas fell to $5.34, compared to the week before.
Fuel prices climbed sharply in spring 2026 as tensions in the Middle East disrupted global oil shipments and refinery outages tightened gasoline supplies in parts of the United States. Analysts monitoring the energy market have pointed to refinery utilization rates, U.S. crude oil inventories, OPEC+ production policies and seasonal driving demand as factors influencing fuel costs in 2026, particularly during periods of refinery outages or shipping disruptions affecting global oil supplies.
