The facility operates as a for-profit nursing home.

For that time period, Parkersburg Center held an overall CMS rating of 1, which is below West Virginia’s state average of 2.9 for nursing homes. CMS ratings assess nursing facilities based on health inspection results, staffing, and the quality of care provided to residents.

The data shows Parkersburg Center had an average daily census of 63.7 residents during the first quarter of 2026, with a total of 66 available beds. It is currently not affiliated with any hospital.

For the first quarter of 2026, Parkersburg Center paid $25,480 in a single fine and received one penalty.

Wood County was home to five for-profit nursing homes in total.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate the older adult population in the United States is increasing, while younger age groups decline. Between 2020 and 2024, the population of Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, while the under-18 population dropped by 1.7%. The nation’s older population has risen sharply over the last century, expanding from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 analysis found that close to half of Americans age 65 and up—about 28 million—are likely to require long-term services and supports, with more than one-third potentially needing care in a nursing home at some point.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
