Ravenswood Village held its position as the second largest nursing facility in Jackson County for the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.

The center reported 62 available beds, which was 29 fewer than Jackson County’s average as of the first quarter of 2026. During this period, the facility cared for an average of 60.1 residents per day.

CMS awarded Ravenswood Village an overall rating of 4 out of 5—surpassing the average score of 2.9 among West Virginia nursing homes.

In comparison, Mountain View Care Center operated as the largest nursing home in Jackson County during the quarter, with 120 available beds.

As of the first quarter of 2026, Ravenswood Village had no reported fines or penalties.

Jackson County had two for-profit nursing homes in total as of that quarter.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that the senior population in the U.S. continues to grow while numbers among younger age groups decline. Between 2020 and 2024, the population age 65 and older grew by 13%, while the number of people under 18 decreased by 1.7%. Over the last century, the nation’s senior population has increased substantially, from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

Research published in 2021 estimates that about half of Americans in this age group, representing nearly 28 million people, may need long-term care and support services. The study also forecasts that more than one in three may eventually require nursing home placement.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
