WVU Parkersburg’s Workforce & Economic Development Division is offering a 90-hour Dental Assistant program. Classes will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 15, 2022 - Dec. 5, 2023, from 6-9 p.m., at the WVU Parkersburg Workforce & Economic Development Building.
This program prepares students for entry-level jobs in one of the fastest growing healthcare positions. The course will familiarize students with all areas of professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. Key areas and topics covered in this program include:
• Administrative Aspects: Including: the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal aspects of dentistry; and policies and guidelines.
• Clinical Aspects: Including: introduction to oral anatomy; dental equipment; introduction to tooth structure; dental hands-on pieces; sterilization; and other areas.
Students who successfully complete the program will be prepared to sit for certain Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification exams including the DANB - Radiation Health & Safety (RHS) exam and the DANB - Infection Control Exam (ICE).
Course cost: $2,000 per person
Financial assistance is available to West Virginia residents who qualify.
Funding and/or payment must be secured by Aug. 1, two weeks prior to class.
