West Liberty University’s Presidential Search Committee 2022 met Monday at 6 p.m. on Zoom for its third meeting.
After roll call, Chairman Tom Cervone welcomed West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission Chancellor Dr. Sarah Armstrong Tucker, to the meeting. Tucker serves as a non-voting, ex-officio member of the Search Committee. WVHEPC is expected to vote and approve the new president’s contract once a selection is made.
The meeting was called to order at 6:11 p.m. and, in addition to Cervone and Tucker, was attended by: Jack Adams, Michael Baker, Keith Bell, Arlene Brantley, Sydney Burkle, Richard Carter, John Dolan, Ryan Glanville, Dan Joseph, Karen Kettler, Richard Lucas, Vice-Chairman David McKinley, Chris McPherson, Jason Metz and Stephanie Shaw. Members Katie Cooper and Dr. Jamie Evick were absent.
Pursuant to WV Code § 6-9A-4, immediately following roll call, a motion to retire to Executive Session was made, seconded and passed unanimously.
There were no actions emanating from the Executive Session, which lasted 55 minutes.
According to Chairman Cervone, the discussion focused on the steps and process of seeking a president. The advice and information shared by Chancellor Tucker was very valuable, he added.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) for Presidential Candidates is now available to professional search firms. This RFP is being handled by WLU’s Director of Purchasing Patrick Kelly and a subcommittee which includes Search Committee members Dolan, Kettler and McPherson, along with WLU Chief Human Resource Officer Diana Harto. Bids will be due at 10 a.m. on Nov. 2.
The meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
West Liberty University is seeking its 38th President after the Board of Governors declined to renew current President W. Franklin Evans contract which expires on Dec. 31, 2022. (See Board of Governors Reject Contract Extension for President).
