West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) radiography students recently won numerous awards at the annual West Virginia Society of Radiologic Technologists (WVSRT) Conference. The conference was held November 3-5, in at the Canaan Valley Resort in Davis, West Virginia. The conference covers the most up-to-date trends in medical imagining for current and prospective Radiologic Technologists professionals.
WVNCC second year Radiography student, Laura Siler, of Glen Dale, won first place in the Essay Competition on her paper titled, “Functional MRI Provides a Clearer Picture for Parkinson’s Disease.” Katie Doyle, of Wellsburg, and Abby Aston, of Moundsville, captured second place in the Exhibit Competition with their exhibit titled, “VHSG” (Virtual Hysterosalpingography).The students also won First Place for “Group Costume” in the Costume Competition.
“The conference itself is a great benefit to our students, but to have three students place in competition was an extraordinary feat for these students and a proud moment for our Radiography Program,” commented WVNCC Radiography Program Director, Misty Kahl.
WVNCC's Radiography Program is a 21-month A.A.S degree program that is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
