Golden Bears rally to overtime victory against Oakland City
WVU Tech had the opportunity to host the Oakland City Mighty Oaks in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Saturday coming away with an overtime River States Conference (RSC) victory 72-66. The Golden Bears boost their record to 9-8, 4-3 (RSC) while Oakland City moves to 7-10, 1-6 (RSC).
Andrew Work led all scorers with 29 points including a 10-for-13 effort from the bonus line. The junior also finished with eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
Fellow junior Keondre' King drained three from three towards 15 points to go with five boards and an assist.
Redshirt sophomore Bryce Radford also hit three from beyond the arc, posting 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Brant Smithers, a freshman, recorded nine points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Junior Ashton Parker pulled down eight boards and had six points and four assists.
Freshman Saliou Diop denied the Mighty Oaks eight times for a career-high in blocks while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing an assist.
The team will next host Indiana University East in more conference action in Beckley, West Virginia Tuesday, January 10.
