Republican Amy Nicole Grady has won her election bid for Senate District 4, defeating Democratic opponent Bruce Ashworth.

Grady expressed gratitude on her Facebook page on Nov. 3.

“Wow!! I am extremely appreciative and humbled by the number of people who have put their faith in me! Thank you all so much! There have been very few times in my life where I have been speechless, but tonight I am. Words cannot explain how grateful I am to all of you and I promise that I will do my very best as your Senator.  You guys are awesome!!!”

Ashworth took to his Facebook page to concede.

“Thank you to everyone who cast their vote this election. I have appreciated your support very much and am happy to have met so many good people on both sides of the ticket this year. We may not have won, but I am proud to have stood up for the backbone of West Virginia, the working class.

"We deserve a government that works for all of us...One that puts in-state workers, unions, our educators, and small businesses before out of state influence and profit. Congratulations to our new state senator, Amy Nichole Grady. Let’s support our public servants and make our state and country the best it can be! Thank you again for your support! Stay positive and keep up the good fight. I’ll do the same.”
